Common Customer Problems

  • Question1 - I keep getting error 'You are not authorized to view this page'?
  • Response - This is caused by not having the correct file type in your root directory. You need to make sure your main page is named - 'default.htm'. If you ask our Support to change the default page settings for your Web Site, activesystems takes no responsibility, if it is required to change the settings back to default settings. The best solution if you want to do this, is to do a re-direct to your required main page from the 'default.htm' page.
  • Question 2 - How do I change permission on directorys under my account?
  • Response - You need to email support with the exact permissions required on what directorys. This cannot be done via your FTP program.
  • Question 3 - Do you allow Telnet?
  • Response - We do not have Telnet enabled on our NT servers.
  • Question 4 - Do you install customer programs on your servers?
  • Response - We will need to examine the 3rd Party software program before installing to make sure Server Performance is not effected. Note: There is an hourly rate charge for installing 3rd party software programs.
  • Question 5 - Do you have cgi scripts pre-installed on your servers?
  • Response - We do not have any pre-installed scripts on our servers, there are so many different scripts available for FREE found around the Internet today, and most likely we would not have the correct script you are after anyhow. You can use any NT compatible script available today.
  • Question 6 - How do I Access my Raw Log Files?
  • Response - The raw log files are stored under a Folder in your Root Web called - W3SVC###. Each Month the previous months Log files are deleted off the Server Automatically, this is due to the size of the extended log files, which can take up to 2 gigs of space per month, this effects performance of the Statistics Server and also Server Performance. We suggest all clients download there log files before the end of each month, so not to lose any logs for the previous month.
  • Question 7 - Can I use Visual Interdev Version X to publish my Website?
